A bit about us...

Working across New Zealand Manufacturing on their Technology Roadmaps we always found the same challenging question: "Who should we work with to deliver this technology or project?"

That's why we set up Fulcrum. An independent organisation that actively connects manufacturing companies to the technology partners and subject matter experts that can help.

New Zealand needs its 20,000+ manufacturing companies to remain competitive and overcome our productivity problem. Adopting the right technology can deliver this, and that starts with the right partner.

New Zealand has all the skills and capabilities to support any manufacturer to improve their competitiveness; we just don't do a great job of talking about it. Which is where Fulcrum come in.

How you use Fulcrum is up to you. If you know what you're looking for, simply search the services on offer using the categories & filters. If you're not sure or can't find what you need simply list a project and our partners can find you.

Frank Phillips

Fulcrum was built and launched by Frank Phillips, working alongside dozens of manufacturers and technology partners.

Growing up surrounded by manufacturing, after university Frank worked across multiple roles in Automotive and Aerospace manufacturing environments across Europe, generally in Operations Management.

Moving to New Zealand in 2019, Frank took his breadth of knowledge and applied this to manufacturing clients across the country. Working in environments from Sheep skins to Rockets.

In 2020, whilst working for LMAC, Frank became the first Certified SIRI (Smart Industry Readiness Index) Assessor in Australasia, developing an offering to build roadmaps for manufacturers adopting technology across their organizations. This has formed to become the 'Smart Factory Assessment' now funded by Callaghan Innovation.

This lead to Frank leading workshops educating and advising manufacturers on the possible productivity and other benefits of adopting Industry 4 solutions. Namely, The Smart Factory Showcase, Network of Site Visits and Digital Manufacturing Challenge. These activities were part of the Industry 4 Demonstration Network, powered by Callaghan Innovation.

From his experience on site with dozens of New Zealand Manufacturers, Frank noticed some key trends and barriers to progress. Which lead to Fulcrum. An independent organisation actively connecting manufacturers to the support and services they need to remain competitive.

Frank now lives in Taranaki, working with manufacturers around the world.
